Test your connection URL

After you get a connection URL from mcp.metraclick.com/app (see Manage your account) or your administrator, you can test it in a terminal before pasting it into Gemini Spark, Claude, n8n, or another MCP client.

A connection URL looks like this:

https://mcp.metraclick.com/mcp/c/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Treat it like a password. Anyone with the full URL can use your MCP tools. Do not share it in chat, email, or screenshots.

What you are testing

These steps send a single “list my tools” request to Metraclick. You do not need to install anything except a terminal.

Success means you get HTTP status 200 and a JSON response that includes a tools list (for example coingecko_price and knowledge-base tools on a free account).

Common problems:

What you seeWhat it usually means
HTTP 401URL is wrong, revoked, or the tenant is inactive
"tools": [] (empty list)The request did not authenticate — double-check the full URL
Connection error / timeoutNetwork or server issue — try again or contact support

After a successful test, open your tenant at mcp.metraclick.com/app and check Last used on the Connection URLs tab. It should no longer say never.

Windows (PowerShell)

PowerShell’s curl command is not the same as on Mac/Linux. Use curl.exe or Invoke-RestMethod.

Option A — PowerShell (recommended)

Replace YOURCONNECTIONURL with your full URL:

$url = "YOUR_CONNECTION_URL"
$body = '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list","params":{}}'

$response = Invoke-RestMethod -Uri $url -Method POST `
  -ContentType "application/json" `
  -Headers @{ Accept = "application/json" } `
  -Body $body

$response.result.tools | Select-Object name, description

To see the raw JSON:

$response | ConvertTo-Json -Depth 10

Option B — curl on Windows

If Git Bash or curl is installed:

curl.exe -s -X POST "YOUR_CONNECTION_URL" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json" \
  -d "{\"jsonrpc\":\"2.0\",\"id\":1,\"method\":\"tools/list\",\"params\":{}}"

macOS and Linux (Terminal)

Replace YOURCONNECTIONURL with your full URL:

curl -s -X POST "YOUR_CONNECTION_URL" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list","params":{}}'

For readable output, pipe through jq if you have it:

curl -s -X POST "YOUR_CONNECTION_URL" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list","params":{}}' | jq .

Optional: call a public tool

If coingecko_price appears in your tool list, you can run a quick smoke test.

Windows (PowerShell):

$body = '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":2,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"coingecko_price","arguments":{"ids":"bitcoin","vs_currencies":"usd"}}}'
Invoke-RestMethod -Uri $url -Method POST -ContentType "application/json" -Headers @{ Accept = "application/json" } -Body $body

macOS / Linux:

curl -s -X POST "YOUR_CONNECTION_URL" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":2,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"coingecko_price","arguments":{"ids":"bitcoin","vs_currencies":"usd"}}}'

Next steps

  • Add the URL to your AI client — see Client integration for platform-specific setup.
  • Manage tools, logins, and URLs — sign in at mcp.metraclick.com/app; see Manage your account.
  • Missing tools — enable them on your tenant’s Tools tab, or ask your administrator if they are not offered.
